If you already love Connecticut, this stuff will be old news. But to all the new residents, soon to be locals and seasonal visitors, here is just a glimpse of why so many people choose to make Connecticut their permanent home, sometimes for generations. This place is just super cool! But like every other state, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. You’ll have to decide whether or not the pros outweigh the cons here, but if you’re like me, this state will always be your home!
1. Connecticut is a nature lover's dream, from the green hills to the lush gardens and pristine beaches.
What makes our state unique is that we don't have to go far to be immersed in forestry. The focus on small townships and reserves means everyone has the opportunity to experience the foliage of autumn and waterfalls of spring.
2. Located in the heart of America's business corridor, this state is a money hot spot.
21 million jobs and 13% of the U.S. economy is easily accessible from this state, making it one of the best places for business in the whole world!
3. We can thank our superior transportation network for our ease of access to everything.
You don't have to live in the city full-time to experience the night lights. You can get from Connecticut to New York in a flash, not to mention our air travel and Long Island Sound ports.
4. Being a part of New England means you get all the perks of the best region in the country.
Colonial-style homes, old stone walls, historic buildings, strong Native-American pride, and powerful migrant history makes this place a melting pot rich with artifacts and celebrations.
5. If you have kids, you probably know about how good the education system in Connecticut is.
Year after year, Connecticut schools show up as top performing on tests, with excellent graduation rates and acceptances to high performing colleges and universities.
6. Our students can also be athletes, and at UConn we have one of the best basketball programs in the country!
That's why so many Nutmeggers are big Huskies fans. Attending one of their games is comparable to the NBA.
7. With so many claims of hauntings, you'll never run out of places to explore.
When you grow up around rumors of ghosts and urban legends, you eventually learn to love it... Or to at least be skeptical. But from asylums to graveyards, there's a lot of fun to be had.
8. We have access to award-winning pizza joints and the best restaurants around.
Apizza, steamed burgers, lobster rolls, birch soda, and of course farm fresh goods make this state the best place to grab a meal.
9. The nightlife is growing, even in small town areas, making this state the best of both worlds.
Even historic districts can transform into posh metropolitan hangouts after dark. Maybe it's the young people returning to their hometowns, but who knows.
10. We are home to the Bridgewater Country Fair.
If you've never been to this one, then you've really been missing out. Traditionally held in mid-August, it's the best way to kick off the fall season!
Hooray for Nutmeggers and the great state of Connecticut! That may be a bit much, but you tell me. What do you love about Connecticut?
