I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
When most people think of a Bucket List, they envision something truly extraordinary: a once-in-a-lifetime trip or adventure; an expedition that fuels and satisfies even the most insatiable wanderlust. These experiences are generally trips to the country’s most incredible places: national parks, world-renowned attractions, and superlative natural wonders. Many of these adventures are outdoors, and while we at OnlyInYourState strive to include diverse lists of bucket-list-worthy adventures that are accessible to all, we recognize that a hike on the Appalachian Trail or cross-country road trip might not be everyone’s adventure de jour.
But there is something that connects us all, whether we’re advanced outdoor enthusiasts, avid historians, or dedicated conservationists, and that’s food. Food is a universal language we all speak; it’s a lively, connective experience that’s as much about sustenance as it is about culture, cuisine, and celebration. Whether you’re a street truck aficionado, fine dining connoisseur, or into all things “Diners, Drive-Ins, And Dives,” this bucket list is for you. We’ve scoured the country in search of the best trips, tours, and foodie towns that belong on every U.S. foodie’s bucket list, and we invite you to come along with us on these wholly unique, utterly delicious, bucket-list-worthy adventures.
In addition to the food, the best part about all of these adventures is how accessible they are. Spending time in these foodie towns are bucket-list-worthy experience anyone can enjoy, as long as they bring a sense of adventure — and hearty appetite — to the table. What do you think are the best towns for foodies? Share your hidden gems with us in the comments. Then, grab your favorite road trip snacks and hit the road in search of new culinary favorites.

What cities have the best food?
From coast to coast numerous cities stand out on the ever-changing foodie scene. Here are a few cities that have the best food:
Portland, OR: It should come as no surprise that Portland ranks right up toward the top for best foodie cities. It even ranked number one for the number of restaurants per capita. With an impressive amount of high-quality craft breweries, wineries, coffee shops, and gourmet specialty stores you are well taken care of in the food department. One of its hidden gems is pizza - New York and Chicago get a lot of attention when it comes to pizza but Portland can hold its own.
St. Louis, MO: Saint Louis has been racking up the culinary awards recently with many food critics bumping this city up the list of best foodie cities. Whether you are into all vegetarian fine dining from the likes of chef Michael Gallina at Vicia, or you have a hankering for some Memphis-style barbecue at the award-winning Pappy's Smokehouse, you are in good hands in St. Louis.
Burlington, VT: No one will be surprised there are amazing restaurants on the East Coast with such easy access to seafood. But let's head a little south from your typical New England foodie towns. Burlington is a surprising mega of farm-to-table dining. The rich Vermont soil is the perfect environment for fresh locally-grown produce, plus you have easy access to the ocean and freshwater lakes for a diverse variety of fish. It is also a great city for craft beer and hard cider as well.
If we are talking about great food it would be a shame to leave out southern barbeque. This thriving foodie scene has spread across the entire country but the south is where it all started. Check out this BBQ road trip that stops in many of the iconic cities in the south. Pile into an RV from RVShare and set out on a tasty adventure.
