Lisa loves animals and has dogs, rats, cats, guinea pigs, and snakes. She is passionate about animal rescue and live music - traveling across the country to see a favorite band is a pretty regular occurrence! Being out hiking in the woods enjoying the scenery with her beloved dogs is another favorite hobby, and also checking out the Pokemon Go scene in whatever city she happens to be in at any given time (coffee and dog leash in hand). There are a lot of great annual festivals in Kansas. One of our favorites is a small-town celebration centered around the World’s Largest Ball of Twine. Surprisingly, this is a hotly-contested title, with several balls of twine throughout the country claiming to be the largest in various categories. The one in Cawker City is officially the largest ball of twine built by a community. Each summer, the ball gets even larger when Twine-O-Thon rolls around. This yearly picnic and celebration is one of Cawker City’s biggest events. The 2022 event begins on Friday, August 19, and festivities last the weekend. Check it out:
