As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Anyone in search of a wild adventure need not look any farther than the Giraffe Suite at Longneck Manor. Located in beautiful Fredericksburg, this unique overnight experience lets you sleep on the second floor of a giraffe barn, directly above several of the majestic creatures. There are lots of windows in the suite, so you can see their “long necks” (hence the name of the zoo) peering in at you! It’s definitely the most unique giraffe encounter in Texas.
Nestled on over 100 acres in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Longneck Manor offers one of the most unforgettable overnight stays you'll ever have.
Home to giraffes and rhinos born in U.S.-accredited zoos, this destination allows guests to sleep on the second story of a giraffe barn, directly above the majestic creatures.
When it's time to wind down for the night, the 300-thread-count percale cotton bedsheets allow for the best night's sleep you've ever had. There is a king bed and an additional sofa bed, so the suite accommodates up to four guests.
If you feel a pair of eyes watching you while you're trying to sleep, don't be alarmed. Picture windows overlooking the giraffe stall are located in the kitchen, living room, and bedroom, so you can observe them every chance you get.
Don't worry - the air handling system in the suite is completely separate from the rest of the barn, so you won't be subjected to any undesirable smells. Also, guests have access to multiple giraffe feeding opportunities, plus a private meet-and-greet session with the animal keepers.
Please note: there is a two-night minimum for the Giraffe Suite. Visit the Longneck Manor website or Facebook page for more information, such as the current nightly rate, and/or to book your stay. If you only have time for a day trip, animal encounters are offered for non-overnight guests, as well.
Have you ever experienced this unique giraffe encounter in Texas? If so, we’d love to hear all about your experience in the comments! Don’t forget to check out our previous article for a nearby winery where you can sip drinks with rhinos.
