Practically an Anchorage legend, Benny’s Food Wagon is the place to go if you want authentic, delicious Mexican food fast and hot. This landmark has been around since 1969, and there’s a reason for it! This place consistently serves up some of the best food in Anchorage.
There’s a small little food truck located on Photo Drive in Anchorage, smack dab in between Northern Lights and Benson Boulevard.
This food truck has stood the test of time, and was originally opened by Benny himself in 1969. It stayed in its original location for many years before having to be moved to its current location.
The food on the menu? Mexican.
And not just your average Mexican food. This place has been crafting the same recipes since it opened, the recipes are that good.
Even though Benny died a number of years ago, this food truck has stayed in the family.
It’s currently run by Olivia Barajas, her husband Francisco Barajas, and occasionally their son Brandon helps out, too. And Olivia says the most popular dish on the menu is Carne asada.
But truly anything on the menu is worth ordering. Twice.
And make sure to ask what the special of the day is, because chances are you won’t want to miss that, either. This historic, award-winning Alaskan landmark is worth a couple of visits before you choose your favorite dish.
Benny’s Food Wagon is open all year long, so you can get your fix even with a foot of snow on the ground.
That iconic mint green and orange stand out against the winter sky, a welcome beacon to all hungry passers-by! It’s the perfect place to grab a bite to eat no matter the weather.
And the best part?
You can dine at Benny’s Food Wagon six days a week. Swing by for your favorite meal Monday through Friday, 10:30 a.m. through 7:00 p.m, and 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays. They’re closed on Sundays.
We promise it will be one of the best meals in Anchorage.
There’s a reason it’s been around since 1969! No use messing with perfection.
