There are so many amazing hikes and stunning lakes in Idaho. Oftentimes, the hikes to some of Idaho’s most beautiful lakes can be long and arduous. Not so with the short hike to the gorgeous Packsaddle Lake in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. This .8 mile out-and-back trail leads to the crystal clear waters of Packsaddle Lake. On a hot day, be sure to bring your swimsuit for a quick dip in the water!

Packsaddle Lake is a hidden gem in southeast Idaho. About 32 miles from Rexburg, this stunning lake is located in the Big Hole Mountains on the western side of Teton Valley.

The Packsaddle Lake Trailhead is located on Packsaddle Lake Road in Tetonia. For the shorter hike, you will want to drive to trailhead marker 212. Visitors have commented that to get to marker 212, you will want 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive. Otherwise, you will want to park at the main trailhead and take the longer hike route.
