When you think of places with beautiful natural scenery in the Peach State, you’d be forgiven if Atlanta was not among the first places to come to mind. After all, the bustling metropolis is better known for its tall buildings and terrible traffic than for any natural wonders. But tucked away inside this urban environment is the lovely Murphey Candler Park. This oasis within the city is home to a man-made lake that’s perfect for fishing and happens to have a wonderful, easy trail that’s the ideal excursion for just about anyone.
Murphey Candler Park spans 135 acres in Brookhaven, a suburb that's northeast of Atlanta proper. It's the largest park in Brookhaven and has plenty of amenities, including tennis courts, a swimming pool, and, of course, a wonderful lake.
The man made lake is a great spot for fishing and wildlife spotting. It's home to Canadian geese, mallards, and beavers, so you never know what kind of critters you'll see on the trail!
The trail is quite easy to hike and won't require much effort. It's a great opportunity for a leisurely stroll to stretch your legs and get a little exercise.
It can sometimes be difficult to find a bit of nature in urban settings, so we always love when we find a great neighborhood park that has a wonderful trail like this.
