As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
As far as cool places to stay, you can find scores of them in Northern California. But if you’re looking for something truly unique, you must check out the Zebra Cottage at the B. Bryan Preserve. Founded in 2008 the Preserve, located a little less than an hour’s drive south of Mendocino, is home to over 60 hoofed African animals.
In honor of the Zebra species that live on the property, there’s the Zebra Cottage.
Just entering along the walkway makes you feel like you’re in for a nice, intimate experience. It is definitely one of the coolest places to stay in the Mendocino area.
You’ll feel like the king of the African plains here with the wide array of creature comforts and bright colors throughout.
The proprietors put a great deal of effort into using antique and repurposed items to create distinctive design touches. Some date back to the early to mid-1900s.
A little pipe stove in the living area provides heat for those often-chilly mornings and evenings.
The craftsmanship here is exquisite and really makes you feel like you’re at home, even though you’re in a great lodging accommodation. Be sure to also check out the wonderful oak floors.
Outside on the deck, you’ll find a private hot tub.
