Life cannot always be rainbows and unicorns, but there are some cities in the Bluegrass State that tend to let trouble roll off quicker than others. What makes me think that? A company called Credit Donkey decided to do a “happiest cities in Kentucky” study based on the data collected from both the US Census Bureau and the FBI. The deciding facts in their study were restaurants, crime rate, commute, departure time, income, housing and rate of divorce in cities with more than 10,000 residents. The summary is people who live in cities with low crime, short commutes, nice hours, fair income and housing and a happy marriage are usually happier people overall.
This is a peaceful community of around 33,000 residents, and most of them have close to a 16 minute commute to work. That allows for extra sleep. Even better, there is only a 1 in 235.1 chance of being the victim of a violent crime here, which allows citizens to rest easy.
There are a little over 58,000 citizens in the sweet little city, and only 20% of their income goes towards housing. You have a 1 in 462 chance of being a victim of a violent crime… and Johnny Depp was born here. The divorce rate is under 17.3% in females and 14.2% in males.
There are only 11,000 people who live in this beautiful little town, and only 19.1% of their income goes towards housing. The average commute time is a little longer at 24 minutes, but citizens have a 1 in 2,660.5 chance of being a crime victim. Those are pretty good odds considering the population.
There are 18,000 people in this community and the average income is over $58,000, with only 19.1% of that going towards housing on average. The average driving time is under 22 minutes and residents only have a 1 out of 847 chance of being a victim.
There are a little over 18,000 residents in this busy community. The divorce rates are low with 11.5% males and 17.1% females, and the income is around $48,000. The crime rate isn’t bad either with residents standing only a mere 1 in 441 chance of being a victim.
This is a quiet little town of around 18,000, where you only have a 1 in 579 chance of being a victim of a violent crime. Only 9% of males and 11% of females are divorced and the average income is around $31,000. Residents spend an average of 21.5% of their income on housing.
Housing is reasonable in this community of 23,000, with an average of 19% spent. Being close to a military base, the chance of being in a violent crime are 1 in 434. The average income is $45,000 and only 19% of that is spent on housing, which is nice.
The artistic college community of Berea only has around 14,000 residents and the average income is over $40,000. A mere 19% of that is spent on housing and residents have a 1 in 862 chance of being a victim of a violent crime. Plus, this is a very artsy community, which offers plenty of outlets to keep everyone happy.
This beautiful community has almost 20,000 residents with an average income of $38,694, and only 19% of that goes towards housing. The average commute time is around 15 minutes and citizens average a 1 in 561 chance of being a victim of violent crimes.
This has been rated one of the safest communities in Kentucky with 16,000 residents, your chance of being a victim of a violent crime is only 1 out of 8,239… which is beautiful. The average income is over $60,000 and only 18% of that goes towards housing. The average divorce rate is 8.7% for males and 8.9% for females, which is below every other city in the state. Fort Thomas is truly a happy city to live in.
