The Ranch Hand Trail Stop is one gas station in Montpelier, Idaho that is a step above the rest. With a large convenience store, full truckers lounge, award-winning restaurant, and even a sports bar with big-screen HDTVs, this is one of the coolest gas stations in Idaho and one that you will certainly not want to drive by.
The Ranch Hand Trail Stop first opened its doors in 1979 along Highway 30, just north of Montpelier. Since that time, this gas station has endured three remodels, transforming it into the gas station that we are familiar with today.
On the outside, this may look like your average small-town gas station and truck stop, but inside, you’ll notice a large convenience store where you can find all types of groceries, odd-and-end items, souvenirs, gifts, snacks, drinks, and more.
There’s also a large trucker’s lounge for truck drivers traveling on Highway 30. Here, you will find a large kitchen area, showers, and other amenities for a life on the road.
In 2009, a sports bar was opened at the Ranch Hand Trail Stop. This area is designed so you can relax, watch a game on one of the big-screen HDTVs, and enjoy a cold drink.
The sports bar offers a selection of foreign and domestic wines and beer. Pair your drink with an appetizer (like the fried pickles!) and you’ll be ready for the perfect evening.
However, the restaurant is one of the main reasons that many truckers, guests, and even locals stop by. This restaurant serves some of the best homemade food in southern Idaho. In fact, this restaurant was even voted as “Best Breakfast Nationwide” by truckers.

The lunch and dinner options are also quite extensive and you’ll find a selection of items that range from tasty hamburgers to steak for dinner. Don’t forget a slice of homemade pie to complete your meal!
