Gwen is an author, artist, illustrator, graphic designer, mother, wife, and part-time super hero. She loves to tackle her dreams head on and takes life by storm. Coffee is her best friend and a good book cannot be beat! When does she have the time, you ask? Well...do you really need that much sleep?
South Carolina lays claim to many abandoned structures. People move on and leave behind all sorts of things and when no one else is there to claim it then the land is happy to have it back. Slowly, but surely it takes chunks here and bits there. Before you know it, you are taking pictures of mere skeletons of what once was, but don’t blink because if you do they are gone completely.
Sadly, so many of these buildings exist in South Carolina, but not for long. Neither time nor nature discriminates and they both will take back what belongs to them little by little. The photographers are the keepers here as they go out and discover these places and hold their memories for all to see.
I want to thank all of the photographers who have shared their work for the world to see. You make the memories for us when time steals them away. A sincere thank you for your artistry. And to all of you, my friends, I bid you happy hunting for your own abandoned buildings. If you have a great photograph you would like to share, please put it in the comments below. Until next time…
