One of our favorite things about Maine is the quintessential businesses that can be found throughout the state. From restaurants to gift shops to hardware and coffee, there’s something local to support no matter what you need. Some of the best spots to support are the small general stores that have often been around for decades. This small town general store in Maine is a great example and we especially love their out-of-this-world food!
Welcome to the Lincolnville Center General Store in Lincolnville! The building dates back as far as anyone can remember and the general store today is a center of local life.
While the outside looks like what you might expect an off-the-beaten-path Maine general store to be, the inside is surprising. With low light and clean, contemporary shelves this place feels both casual and refined all at once.
But you don't visit a general store for the fancy low-lighting. You visit for what you can leave with and this place has it all. Shelves are stocked with everyday items, but we urge you to come hungry for pizza! Pictured here is a recent "Whim of the Week," which is essentially their version of a special. This one features local fiddleheads, leeks, mushrooms & garlic with white sauce, ricotta and mozzarella blend.
Of course, you can also grab something more traditional. Every pizza is made in-house with a cheese blend of mozzarella, provolone, fontina and parmesan.
Once you've chosen your pizza, don't forget their array of baked treats. From tarts to cupcakes to pies and cookies, they have everything you might need to satisfy a sweet tooth.
The Lincolnville Center General Store is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. You can learn more about them by visiting their website or following them on Facebook. The general store can be reached at 207-763-4411.
