Sure, you can get flowers at just about any grocery store. But have you ever picked your own? There’s a U-pick flower farm in Minnesota that lets you do just that. Emery Acres Flower Farm is a beautiful flower farm in Rosemount, Minnesota, a community about 25 miles south of the Twin Cities. This is a lovely day trip destination for anyone who lives in the metro area!
Emery Acres specializes in a wide variety of beautiful flowers that you can pick yourself at the U-pick area. This makes for a great activity for special occasions, with kids, or just because.
In 2022, the U-pick area opens on June 15 and goes until September. The long season means there are many different types of flowers grown here. They have 34 garden beds and grow more than 100 types of flowers and other foliage!
Each visitor gets to pick their own bouquet from the garden. You’ll get a pair of shears for cutting safely, as well as a container for transporting your stems from the garden.
There’s also a pitcher, which is $25. Usually, visitors can fit around 20 to 25 stems in it. Whatever fits, you get to keep for your bouquet! You can buy the pitcher or buy a vase for an additional price, or simply take the bouquet to a vase at home.
When you’re done choosing your bouquet, you’re free to wander the grounds and enjoy the beautiful gardens. There’s a play area for kids, as well as snacks and tables.
