Beach season is right around the corner. I’m already planning an early morning drive down in the near future. But with that 6AM alarm comes the question of which beach to go to. While North Carolina is filled with amazing beaches , sometimes you just want total relaxation. These 10 beaches will give you just that.
1. Holden Beach
Located in Brunswick County, Holden Beach is a true gem in North Carolina. This quaint beach town is bustling with charm, a relaxed vibe, amazing food, and BREATHTAKING sunsets!
2. Topsail Beach
If you're really looking to step out of reality, Topsail is the place for you. The beaches are quiet and peaceful, not to mention loaded with best seashells you'll find in North Carolina. With only beach bungalows (high rise development is restricted) and ocean views, there's no way you won't leave revitalized.
3. Ocracoke Beach
With 16 miles of undeveloped coastline, Ocracoke Beach is the perfect place to get away from it all! If your idea of a vacation includes a (basically) private beach - book a week here.
4. Bald Head Island
There's no way you won't be enchanted by the island of golf carts, sandy shores, and peaceful solitude. This 12,000 acre slice of paradise is home to Old Baldy, amazing seafood, and peace of mind!
5. Kure Beach
Home to NC'S oldest fishing pier, Kure Beach is the perfect place for a little sport and a little relaxation. If you're looking for other activities, check out the aquarium or beachfront state parks. Kure Beach is perfect for a laid back family vacation.
6. Corolla Beach
Corolla Beach has something extra special - wild horses! Located in the Northernmost section of the OBX, this beach paradise is a world away from it all. Almost all businesses are locally owned, you can take a Jeep tour of the beach, or visit Currituck Lighthouse.
7. Frisco
Speaking of getting away from it all, Frisco is the perfect place to pitch a tent. If you've ever wanted to fall asleep to the sound of the ocean - you're in luck.
8. Nags Head
Nags Head has so much to offer in terms of a beach vacation. There's plenty to do - get adventurous and catch some surf, maybe - but there's also plenty of relaxing to do. It's the perfect choice for someone who wants a peaceful scene, packed with lots of fun.
9. Oak Island
Oak Island sometimes goes overlooked, but it's a well kept secret. You can enjoy great kayaking and fishing on Davis Canal or just chill out on a beach chair. You'll get serenity, a lighthouse, and a nice tan.
10. Emerald Isle

While this might be a more well known beach, there's no way I can't mention this gem of the Crystal Coast. Emerald Isle is private and peaceful, but only a short drive away from historic small towns. You'll want to spend more than a few days here. Plus, you can't beat that turquoise water.
Sun, sand, surf…is there anything better? I know where I’m laying my towel this summer – what about you? Did any of your favorite beaches make the list?
