Where can you find wildflowers in Nevada?
From U-pick farms to hiking trails filled with flowers, Nevada has some great places to enjoy spring flowers. If you are up for a fun hike, here are a few of our favorite places to find wildflowers in Nevada:
- Tahoe Meadows, Washoe Valley, NV: This beautiful recreation area near the pass between Slide Mountain and Mt. Rose is one of our favorite spots for a spring wildflower hike. If you want a nice quiet nature walk, take the Tahoe Meadows Interpretive Loop. It's about 1.3 miles so it won't take all day. It's just enough time to stop and smell the roses, or, well, wildflowers. You might not think about lush green fields full of brightly-colored flowers when you think about Nevada, but this area is as picture-perfect as it comes.
- Acastus Trail, Mt Charleston, NV: The Spring Mountains Recreational Area is another wonderful area to enjoy a spring hike. Make it a lovely weekend getaway by staying at the Kyle Canyon Campground, then setting out on a number of hiking trails through this scenic wilderness. Acastus Trail will take about 90 minutes to complete the 3.5-mile trek through the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. While you are not too far from Las Vegas, it seems like a whole other world.
- Jarbidge Wilderness, Elko County, NV: This stunning wildflower haven looks like a watercolor painting with its vast fields of colorful flowers backed by rolling green hills and perfect white clouds in a bright blue sky. The pristine natural beauty you'll find here is very reminiscent of the European Alps. Spring often comes late to this area with snow sometimes lasting as late as July. But when the wildflowers bloom it is a very enchanting place for a hike.
There is no reason to cut your hiking adventures short by only visiting these three areas. We have 18 of the best hikes for you all over Nevada. If you time them right, you are sure to discover plenty of wonderful wildflowers. Grab a map from AllTrails+ before you head out.
