We readily admit we’d be hard pressed to put together a full list of the wonderful benefits of living in a coastal state, especially South Carolina. But we can start with the obvious: fresh seafood! And when we say “fresh” seafood we don’t mean the fresh-but-never-frozen kind. We mean the fresh-off-the-boat seafood that still has that sweet and salty taste of the great blue sea. Further, finding a place to purchase said seafood in the Palmetto State is never an issue either. But when you’re in or anywhere near Conway in the Pee Dee region, be sure to hit up the no-frills hideaway known as the Ocean Fish Market in South Carolina.
Tiny, unassuming, and tucked away behind the Kingston Presbyterian Church on 3rd Avenue just one block off of Main Street (U.S. 501), Ocean Fish Market is a come-as-you-are joint where the seafood is delightfully as fresh as the atmosphere in the outdoor dining area.
Get it served up with your choice of rice, cole slaw, hush puppies, or French fries. And then sit back and savor every bite underneath the shade of enormous oak trees that have been on the property of this parking lot fish shack for centuries.

As with any fish market, the menu changes based upon what's in season on the high sea. But if you arrive when fresh blue crabs are available you'll be missing out if you don't order up a baker's dozen to sit and pick one at a time, bite-by-bite.
Meals can be ordered as dinners, combos, or sandwiches. And those sandwiches are served on two slices of white bread — just like mom used to serve 'em.
Other items likely to be on the menu are shrimp, oysters, crab cakes, deviled crab, and of course, about a dozen seasonal types of fish that are also available in their fish market.
That's right: Ocean Fish Market is also a traditional fish market where you can purchase fresh catch to take home and make for yourself.
Your taste buds will thank you for stopping at this no-fuss hideaway fish market in South Carolina! The Facebook page for Ocean Fish Market lists the hours as Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
