Craters of the Moon National Monument is one of the most unique and otherworldly landscapes in Idaho. Not only is there so much to do and see during the day at this national monument, but on a clear night, this area offers the most beautiful show. In fact, Craters of the Moon National Monument is an International Dark Sky Park and is also home to the Lava Flow Campground, one of the most unique campgrounds in Idaho.
The Lava Flow Campground is open to vehicles from April to November or when Loop Road opens. If you desire to snow camp, you can hike into the campground during the winter months. You can learn more on the National Park Service website.
Have you ever hiked at this campground? Did you spend time looking at the night sky? We’d love to hear about your experience and don’t forget to share your photos!
