You can also find dog-friendly courtyards, lawn games, live music, and food trucks. It’s time gather the troops and head to these breweries in Denver!
1. Call to Arms Brewing Company
Call to Arms is a labor of love crafted by three guys whose aim is "to create a timeless, moody, neighborhood-friendly brewery focusing on craft beers, artisan provisions, and community awareness." They got their start at Avery Brewing Company in Boulder (which is also fab!), and are now at the helm of an amazing taproom on Tennyson. They've got 15 rotating taps with intriguingly titled beers like "Shirtless Putin On a Horse" and "IPA For Kids Who Can't Read Good." I"m going to have to get to bottom of their title-choosing process...and their kegs.
2. Cerebral Brewing
This science-based brewing operation near City Park is the brainchild of three fellows dedicated to consistent, high-quality craft beer. They have four "Constants" like an IPA and a Milk Stout, as well as about a dozen "Variables," like their Work From Home made with maple syrup and cold brew coffee. (Yowzers that sounds delicious)! Whether you want a traditional brew or one that really pushes the envelope, Cerebral has got the brew for you!
3. Little Machine Beer
If you're in the mood for a hipped out, industrial retro vibe, head on over to Little Machine in Jefferson Park and sample their unique and seasonal brews. They are all about "embracing the local," and their entire brewing system is actually Colorado-made. Doesn't an IPA on Nitro or a tart raspberry ale sound good right about now?!
4. Spanglang Brewery
The jazzy guys over at Spangalang are provided the people of Five Points (and beyond) with fresh, high-quality micro brews and seasonal specials like their fruited goses made with Pineapple, Watermelon-Honeydew, and Tangelo-Lime. Get you some!
5. Great Divide Brewing
We believe in the Yeti! (And, no, I'm not talking about the coolers...even though I also believe in them 100%). Since 1994, Great Divide has been brewing exceptional beers of all styles and flavors and has become "one of America’s most decorated and celebrated craft breweries." Their delicious beers paired with their dedication to the local community and the environment has me believing in them 100%!
6. Bull & Bush Brewery
This family owned and operated British-style pub has been a Glendale hub since 1971, and they've been brewing tasty beers adjacent to the pub since the mid-90s. Two brothers now run the show that was passed down from their father who put it perfectly..."This is what it’s all about if you’re in the tavern business. Fresh beer, the music, the camaraderie and friendship. Most restaurants, you might go in there once a year. Here you come in once a month, once a week… even once a day."
7. Ratio Beerworks
The guys at Ratio went from punk rockers to brew masters by learning the craft in Germany and perfecting their skills here in Colorado. Their hip, eclectic taproom on Larimer has art and music programs, as well as a fantastic dog-friendly courtyard with games, and a 20-barrel brewing system, which means the well will never run dry! Ratio rocks! (Literally).
8. Deep Draft Brewing Company
Nestled in a lovely little nook in City Park West is this fine brewing company which also has great food, rotating art, and (sometimes) rockin' bands. With a killer moody ambience and tasty brews like their Apple Ale made with Colorado's very own Palisade apples, Deep Draft is a local favorite!
9. Renegade Brewing Company
Renegade is bringing "offensively delicious" creative craft beers to the people at their original taproom on 9th and Sante Fe, as well as their new 15,000 square-foot warehouse-style brewery just eight blocks south. It's the perfect spot to pre-game before a First Friday Art Walk or just a night out in D-town.
10. Crooked Stave
This 20-barrel brewhouse that focuses on Belgian-style sours has a cult following in Denver, and beer lovers have literally followed them around town until they finally landed at their permanent spot at The Source in RiNo. Have some of Crooked Stave's delicious signature sours then roam around the incredible urban market, which has everything your little heart could possibly desire.
11. Fiction Beer Company
A "book dork and a beer geek" combined forces to create this one-of-a-kind literature-inspired brewing company. They aim to tell a story with each of their craft beer recipes through the use of flavors, aromas, and textures, and you can even pick your genre. From the Classics to Mystery & Adventure to Fantasy & Science-Fiction, there's a brew to suit every palette. (And that's no fiction)!
