We’d all like to believe that our list of skills is a long one. Mainers, after all, are a resourceful, hard-working bunch of people. But not everything we do well needs to be a skill. In fact, there are lots of things we excel at that might not mean a lot to other people. But to us, they’re pretty important. Check out this list to make sure you’ve mastered each of the things on it!
1. We rock the best footwear around.

They might be pricey, but they last forever and if we're doing the math right that's a pretty good investment. You can often tell a Mainer outside of Maine by their ability to wear bean boots perfectly.
You can find them all over New England (and even in some undeserving states!) but nobody knows lobster like a Mainer. That's why we also serve up the best lobster roll most people have ever had. Best of all, you can find them all over. Check out this list of some of our best spots for the perfect roll.
In the winter this is extremely important. It's not uncommon for neighbors to help dig out neighbors during a snow storm and while it's not always easy work, it's always worth it.
And that's because so many of them are right here in Maine. With more coastline than California, Maine has plenty of beaches to explore. See some of our favorites here.
In a state where you can experience winter, spring, summer and fall all in one day you've got to learn to go with the flow. And, no one does that better than a Mainer!
6. There's no one better at adventures than a Mainer!
Whether it's hiking through the woods or exploring a trail that only exists at low tide (like the one pictured here and described in this article) you can always count on us to be ready for adventure.
7. We carry our state pride everywhere.

Most of the time. Okay, SOME of the time. In a state that sees an influx of tourists, it's easy to become impatient when it takes hours just to get something done. But, at the end of the day, we're grateful the visitors are here. Mostly.
Because it's all around us, that's a pretty easy thing to do. From waterfalls to foliage to sea spray in the air, there's so much beauty here and we appreciate every inch of it.
What are some skills you think Mainers have that we forgot to include? Let us know in the comments.
