There’s an element of magic in small-town Tennessee. The kind folks that wave at you from the side of the road, the rolling hills that swell towards a bluebird-colored sky. Culleoka, Tennessee is a tiny town located just southeast of Columbia in Maury County. With a population that barely tops 5,000, this nostalgic enclave boasts historic homes, a tidy downtown, and some of the best Southern food in the state. Campbell Station Country Store is tucked away just beyond the train tracks on a long, meandering road through the countryside, and the local favorite has earned its glowing reputation.
Open two days a week, the Campbell Station Country Store offers a whole lot more than a great menu. The historic storefront encourages community at the table and on the front porch, and if you visit you are bound to be treated like an old friend. The restaurant sits just in front of the local train tracks, so you may even hear the nostalgic blare of the whistle as you eat.
Inside, the rustic décor and low-key atmosphere welcome single diners and family gatherings. There is a small offering of groceries, but most folks visit for the delicious home-cooked meals.
Expect appetizers of fried pickle spears and mozzarella cheese sticks on the menu, and you can choose from a handful of dinner options that come with sides like white beans and fries. Hamburgers and cheeseburgers are on the menu as well, along with a hamburger steak served with grilled onions.
If you have a larger party that you’d like seated, feel free to contact the store ahead of time. Events are held by request, and the Campbell Station Country Store even offers catering.
Perhaps the most popular dinner option is the ribeye steak. We’d recommend adding a side of white beans and salad and round out the meal with one of the country store’s famous fried pies. If you’re feeling indulgent, add a scoop of ice cream.
There is a small kids' menu for children under the age of 10, including a hamburger and chicken tenders. Every meal comes with fries and a drink. Adults can snag an iced tea for just $2.89, or a beer for $3.
