The first American Arbor Day was organized and promoted by J. Sterling Morton of Nebraska City, Nebraska. This event occurred on April 10, 1872 and on that day, historians believe that around one million trees were planted in the Cornhusker State. Since then, Arbor Day has been celebrated every year in the United States, and today, Arbor Day Farm exists to recognize this holiday every day, all year long.
Arbor Day Farms is an attraction on 260 acres in Nebraska City. It includes the 140-room Lied Lodge, Apple House Market, Arbor Lodge State Historical Park, and the one-of-a-kind Tree Adventure activity that your whole family will enjoy. Lied Lodge is a large and beautiful accommodation on the Arbor Day Farm property. In addition to comfortable guest rooms, it has an indoor pool and fitness center, an on-site spa, a bar, and a fantastic restaurant, Timbers.
However, to get the full effect and enjoyment of this special restaurant, you'll probably want to sit outside. Lied Lodge is set on a hill that overlooks Arbor Day Farms. The views from the patio are incredible.
Although this restaurant has a lot of seating, it is quite popular and very busy. It's wise to make a reservation in advance - especially if you wish to sit outdoors.
Timbers serves breakfast Monday through Friday and offers brunch on weekends. The menu is vast and everything is excellent. This waffle topped with strawberries is mouth-watering.
