New Mexico is full of cool hikes, and incredible overlooks. Some of these overlooks give you breathtaking views of the mountains, some show you rock formations unlike anything you’ve ever seen, and some give you a glimpse of past civilizations that used to call these lands home.
The Wijiji Trail clocks in at just over four miles, and can be found near Nageezi, New Mexico, towards the Northwest corner of the state. While not an especially popular trail, the Wijiji Trail will take you to some hidden overlooks with some awesome views.
Rock formations are just one of the neat things you will see from this overlook, the coolest one being the Fajada Butte. The Fajada Butte rises almost 400 feet above the canyon floor and is home to cliff dwellings from past civilizations, and can be seen from the Wijiji Trail.
You can also bring your dog on this hike. While they must be kept on a leash, they are sure to appreciate the escape into the outdoors as much as you will.
New Mexico has some of the best overlooks in the country! While it can sometimes be hard to decide which one to seek out, the Wijiji Trail is one that should definitely be near the top of your list. With views of the Fajada Butte and of the Wijiji ruins, the views and experience undoubtedly make this hike worth it.
