Matryoshka Coffee is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it coffee shop in Nashville, Tennessee, coming in at just about 300 square feet. You can spot it by the brightly colored chairs out front and the cheeky, candy-colored sign that welcomes you inside.
The creative coffee shop boasts a nostalgic edge with a punchy vibe, and the entire space is doused in color and a substantial level of glitter. The baristas are both friendly and knowledgeable, so if you have questions about the coffee available make sure to ask.
The tidy menu boasts favorites like cappuccinos and lattes, as well as specialty beverages dreamt up by owner Abby Chiavario. Drinks like the hot pink "Charlotte" and cinnamon-infused "Joanna" were inspired by customer orders, so if you get creative you may just end up epitomized.
The "Confetti Cuban" is made with sweetened condensed milk and fresh vanilla bean, and it’s topped with a healthy dose of rainbow sprinkles to add a little celebratory clout. Ask the baristas if you would like your drink to be made vegan. Matryoshka does stock oat milk, and a majority of menu items can be altered for dietary needs.
If you aren’t a coffee drinker you can order a spicy-sweet masala chai steamed with vanilla syrup for a bit of added sweetness, or a hot chocolate made with homemade chocolate syrup. There is green tea on the menu, as well as black tea and bright herbal red tea.
Matryoshka Coffee capitalizes on its brightly nostalgic edge with a small-but-mighty food menu. Order breakfast cereal for a mere $3, or perhaps a steamy cup of noodles. There are vegan pastries available from Yellow & Lavender
as well, and options will vary depending on the day.
This sweet space serves up good coffee and great vibes from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday. The micro-café is closed on Sundays and Mondays, so make sure you plan your visit ahead of time!
