Well, about 70 million years ago, a large area of Alabama was part of the Gulf of Mexico. Aliceville is believed to have once been a barrier island and shark teeth eventually washed ashore. As the creek constantly flows, the shark teeth become unearthed.
A great way to experience Shark Tooth Creek is with a group, whether it be a field trip, a church group outing, a birthday party, etc. If you arrive as part of a group, what'll likely happen is the owner will give a short talk about why shark teeth are in the area. He'll then show you some examples of shark teeth and fossils. Following that, you'll board the "Shark Tooth Creek Express" and head to the creek.
