Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Some things are just so good that they don’t ever need to be changed or fixed. One of those things is this hot dog joint in Fort Wayne: the hot dogs here are so delicious that the recipe has remained exactly the same since its inception in the early 20th century. In fact, it’s even run by the same family after all these years! Fort Wayne’s Famous Coney Island Weiner Stand is truly a place where you can find the best hot dogs in Indiana – and you will have been able to find ’em here for decades.
It may not look like much from the outside, but trust us when we say this little hole-in-the-wall is a local legend.
Upon his passing, the torch was passed again to Kathy Choka, who owns half of the shares to this day. Nowadays - like always - locals know all about this amazing little place where you can get some of the best hot dogs in the country...and all its fun secrets. What secrets does this little hole in the wall have?

Well, for one, there's a "secret kitchen entrance" in the back where locals can enter the shop.
There's also the fact that nothing about the recipes used here has changed in the century-plus that the restaurant has been around. After all, if it isn't broke, don't fix it.
In fact, everything is still prepared the same way it was then, too. The process is perfect from beginning to end, so why worry about changing anything? It's what the people of Indiana have come to know and love, and it would be something of a crime to take that from them.
If you were to ask a local where you could find the best hot dogs in Indiana, chances are they'd point you in the direction of Coney Island Weiner Stand.
This lil' joint serves about 2,000 hot dogs each and every day - and significantly more when there are holidays or events ongoing in the area. The servers here are just as kind and attentive as they've always been, and Coney Island Weiner Stand takes great pride in their friendly efficacy.
As they say on the official website - it's been business as usual around here since 1914.
...and honestly, we couldn't be prouder to call this place our own. It's a Hoosier State staple and plans to stick around for at least another 100 years or so.
