I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Everything might be bigger in Texas, but only in Kentucky will you find the world’s largest baseball bat. In the heart of Louisville, there’s a 120-foot-tall bat that weights 34 tons and is a herculean homage to America’s favorite pastime! Located at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, this epic roadside attraction (and, of course, its accompanying museum) is well-worth a visit on your next day trip adventure in Kentucky.
On the streets of Louisville, Kentucky, there is a massive monolith sure to stop you in your tracks.
This is the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, home of the world-famous baseball bat producer... and the World's Largest Bat. It is 120 feet tall, weighs 34 tons, and is made of hollow carbon steel. It's a replica of the bat used by the Babe himself! (However, his bat was a mere 34 inches long.)
Because it's here where you'll get an up-close look at how the magic happens, so to speak; the process of transforming raw wood (usually northern white ash and maple) into refined baseball royalty.
On a factory tour, guests can walk through the heart of the factory production line and check out never-before-seen steps in the bat-making process -- including the creation of the adorable little mini bats.
In addition to tours, the museum is quite hands-on, too. The "Hold a Piece of History" exhibit features bats from all 30 major league teams; and, as its name suggests, you can actually hold the game-used bats of some of your favorite baseball legends!
The Louisville Slugger Museum is one of those very special places that crosses generations and cultures. Tours are perfect for fans young and old, and provide an experience that generations can share together.
It's a place to celebrate the history of baseball -- and Kentucky's very important, very big, role in this legendary and iconic part of American culture.
(And that's something that is totally worthy of a 120-foot-tall monument, in our opinion.)
Have you visited the world’s largest baseball bat in Kentucky before? Did you know the Bluegrass held such a brag-worthy title? How cool! Learn more and plan your visit at the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory website.
