When you’re ready for an outdoor adventure that combines natural beauty with manmade charm, there’s one Great Lakes State destination that certainly belongs on your itinerary. When you visit this stunning and unique park, you’ll find some of the most unique bridges in Michigan – not to mention plenty of space for fresh air, strolling, and memory-making. In every season, this park and its bridges deliver.
Deerfield Nature Park is located off West Remus Road in the city of Mt. Pleasant.
This lovely space is a wonderland for those who appreciate nature, offering an impressive assortment of recreational options for all ages. No matter when you stop by, you’ll find plenty of family-friendly fun.
There are nearly 600 acres of land to peruse throughout the park, whether you’re exploring on foot or via bike. Guests can even stay overnight at the park’s rustic campsites or try their hand at disc golf.
Throughout Deerfield Nature Park, you’ll find forested wonder and ample access to the banks of the Chippewa River. This riverfront location provides the perfect environment for a series of bridges.
That’s right: within the park, you’ll find four unique and beautiful bridges, all surrounded by natural beauty. Our three favorites include two swinging bridges and the classic Fisher Annex Covered Bridge.
One swinging bridge can be found just south of the park’s canoe and kayak launch off Wildwood Path, while the other is accessible further downriver off the River Loop walkway. You’ll want to snap a few photos.
Between these two swinging bridges, you’ll find Fisher Annex Covered Bridge, which sits along the aptly named Covered Bridge Trail and offers a real sense of timeless charm to the surrounding space.
Of course, if these three marvelous bridges aren’t enough, there’s a bonus within Deerfield Nature Park: a classic footbridge, the Lewis Pontiac Bridge, that offers great riverbank views in every season.
As you plan your next outdoor adventure in the Great Lakes State, keep this awesome park in mind. Whether you’re enjoying a snowy walk or basking in the sunshine, there’s so much to appreciate here.
