Sometimes, things happen in this life that are tragic, frightening, or just downright strange – and they arrive without explanation. Sometimes, years, decades, or more lapses without answers, and people are left baffled, heartbroken, or both. Here at OIYS, we’ve already covered some pretty perplexing unsolved mysteries in Indiana , and we feel that it’s important to shine a light on many of these cases in the event that somebody out there might know literally anything. You never know where the next big break in a cold case might come from; perhaps you know details about some of these frightening events that nobody else does.
1. The Deaths (?) of Clarence Roberts
On Nov. 18, 1970, in Nashville, Indiana, a fire broke out behind the home of a local couple, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence and Geneva Roberts. Clarence perished in the blaze, and his body was found and identified following the tragic disaster. Almost 10 years
to the day later, another fire occurred - this time, two bodies were recovered. One was Geneva Roberts, and the other was... Clarence Roberts? Wait... what? That's right; the second body in the second fire was
also thought to be Clarence's, and several parties close to the case have valid and notable reasons for believing different versions of what exactly happened here. The Robertses were embroiled in controversies and suspicion in life and now in death as well; the second fire was undoubtedly arson, but which body was
really Clarence's? And whose body, then, was the extra one? What did Geneva know, and what was she hiding?

2. The Miraculous Resurrection of Logan Carroll
On April 6, 1995, a baby boy was born - and upon his birth, his heart rate, which had been normal up until delivery, plummeted to nothing. Doctors tried desperately to revive him, but after 15 minutes of CPR, there was neither heart nor brain activity. He was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m. Nearly an hour passed as the family took photos with him for the first - and supposedly last - time. Or was it? His mother's stepmother noticed that he seemed to be getting warmer in her arms. His aunt heard a gasping sound from him, which was dismissed initially as a reflex , but right as rain, when a nurse came in to check his pulse... he had one. After 40 minutes of no heartbeat and no brain activity, Logan was somehow alive. Within just a few hours, he was comparatively fine. Though he was confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life due to brain damage acquired during the initial hour of his life, Logan managed to live a seemingly miraculous life until January of 2020, when he peacefully passed away at the age of 24 years.
3. The Disappearance of Bradley Dale Ross II
On Nov. 19, 2004, Fort Wayne man Bradley Ross II failed to show up when he was supposed to be picking his fiancee up from her shift at work.
His car was found at the intersection of State & Coliseum, and it had apparently been involved in an accident... but where was the driver, presumably Bradley? Was Bradley even driving? If so, where was he? If not, who was? And again - where was Bradley? Anyone with any information is asked to call the Fort Wayne police at (260) 427-1202.
4. The Murder of Garth Rector
On March 21, 2008, Mr. Garth Rector, of Muncie, Indiana, was found to have been brutally murdered inside his rented home. He'd been shot five times; his wedding ring was missing, but nothing else was found to be out of place. There were no less than three people looked at as persons of interest, each with their own possible motive for having killed Garth. But who did it, and why?

5. Robert Davidson and the Lady in Black
In June of 1980, motorcyclist Robert Davidson was struck by lightning while pulled over on the I-74 near Acton. His injuries were extensive and paramedics did not believe he was likely to pull through; when he was loaded into the ambulance, however, the power failed. Considering the ambulance had a backup battery/generator, this wasn't a thing that should have happened for any understandable reason. And then, seemingly out of nowhere, a woman in a long, black dress that appeared to have been something straight out of the 1800s arrived on scene. She was carrying a Bible and said that she needed to see and touch Robert. Baffled and without the ability to transport him immediately, paramedics allowed it. Perhaps she knew him? Speaking and chanting in tongues, she slammed her Bible into the ground repeatedly and touched Robert - who, somehow, suddenly showed renewed signs of life. His vitals were weak, but they were there when they hadn't been moments before. Before anyone could ask her identity, the woman in black was gone - not to be found again. Upon her disappearance, the power to the ambulance returned, and Robert was transported to a local hospital. He was in a coma for nearly two months until he awoke. Who was the woman in black? What revived Robert that day? Perhaps even eerier is the fact that some of the people who were on scene that day never saw a woman in black at all. Robert had no memories of her, or of the day in question.
