Lewis Lights in Purvis is one of the most unique Christmas light displays in Mississippi, with two acres of dazzling lights and decor, some of which are one-of-a-kind handcrafted. It’s a family-run display that was held for the first time in 1989 but over the years has become one of the most anticipated holiday events in the state. Children and adults alike will be delighted to see the familiar faces of some beloved classic characters such as the Berenstein Bears and Winnie the Pooh. There’s even a gift shop with hot chocolate, too.
What other kinds of Christmas activities are there for celebrating Christmas in Mississippi?
Landrum’s Homestead and Village is a charming replica of a late-1800s settlement. You can take a tour of the village and enjoy Christmas music, food, photos with Santa, wagon rides, gem mining, marshmallow roasting, a bonfire, funnel cakes, and hot chocolate. What a fun time! Another unique Christmas experience is the Annual Star Party at the Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. You will get to take a hay ride and look through telescopes for a meteor shower. There are crafts for kids of all ages, a cookie decorating station, and hot chocolate. Maybe the best part about it is it’s free!

In addition to Landrum’s Homestead and Village mentioned previously, you can have a meal with Santa at Cedar Hill Farm, see Santa dive into the aquarium at The Museum of Natural Science, and see Santa at the Hattiesburg Zoo. And of course, he will be at Santa’s Christmas Factory. He is definitely going to need a vacation following the holiday season.
