Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
There are some foods that it’s just really, really hard to find a person who doesn’t like it. Sure, there are always some folks out there who aren’t a fan of… well, anything, really… but most folks can agree that certain things are awesome. Bacon, for example. Oh, and cheese. Glorious cheese. And guess what, cheese lovers? There’s an epic cheese shop in Indiana that sells almost every kind you could ever imagine, and it’s all fresh-made at their very own farm.
Heritage Ridge Creamery was established by an Amish gentleman in 1979.
It got its start crafting barrel and longhorn-style cheeses, and eventually, they narrowed their art form down to creating longhorn, stirred-curd cheeses.
And you know what? They're pretty darn good at it.
Each cheese is perfectly made and ridiculously flavorful. Heritage Ridge cheeses are probably the reason so many of us are totally obsessed with cheese.
Patience is key - every minute spent waiting is worth it, we promise! There are people who claim to drive all the way from places like Illinois and Ohio to shop here; how lucky are we that we live in the state where this wonderful, not-so-little cheese shop calls home? We feel pretty lucky.
Take home some classic favorites, or branch out and try a cheese you haven't tried before.
You'll come for the cheese, but you'll also find delicious, farm-fresh butter, too. Once you've tried butter and cheese made fresh right at the place you got it at, you'll never want to go back to store-bought, if you can help it. If you live a little far away, no worries; you can order online and have it shipped, too.
What is it about farm freshness that's so delightful?
We're not sure, but we're definitely all about it.
