Farm fresh is pretty easy to do in Arkansas. In fact, lots of Arkansans grow their own produce in their back yards. If you don’t have the time or space to tend your own garden though, or if you don’t have a good friend who will let you abscond with bags of fresh produce, you’ll certainly be looking for a good place to buy those gorgeous Arkansas tomatoes this season. Look no further than these 12 awesome farmers markets, listed in no particular order.
Shoppers here can find not only a plethora of gorgeous fresh vegetables, but live music and an artisan market. This market is held on Saturdays from 7 a.m. until noon, and is located at 7th & Main Street in North Little Rock.
Open Sundays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. (rain or shine), the Bernice Garden Farmers Market runs from April 12 until mid-November. The location is full of cool sculptures, and booth rentals are open to musicians and visual artists, so there’s entertainment and fine art available among the vegetables and plants. This market can be found at 1401 South Main Street in Little Rock.

Located at 400 President Clinton Ave, the Little Rock Farmers Market has been around for forty years. Vegetable enthusiasts can find plenty of veggies and lots of handmade craft items as well. The main market season runs from May 7 through July 24. It is open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. In August through September 24, the market is open on Saturdays during their regular hours.

Hillcrest Farmers Market is Little Rock’s only year-round market. The market is a community service of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church. This year it even features vegetables grown by Pulaski Heights Elementary School students! It happens on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to noon. It is located at 2200 Kavanaugh Blvd in Little Rock.
Opening weekend is the first weekend in May and last year the market ran until Halloween. The market is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7 a.m. until noon. It is located at 1132 Front Street in Conway. Shoppers will find excellent crafts, jarred preserves and loads of fresh veggies.
Located on the campus of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, the ASU market aims to bring farmers and bakers together with crafters, ranchers, and live plant sellers. This market runs on Saturdays from May to October from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June until August, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The location is on the corner of Aggie and Stadium Blvd in Jonesboro. Patrons can also expect to find community classes and festivals throughout the market season.

The Fayetteville Farmers Market is so cool that it won fifth place in the American Farmland Trust’s America’s Favorite Farmers Market Contest and was voted Favorite Large Farmers Market in 2012. You could have fun there even if you hated vegetables. Though the market has special locations in the winter, the main market season is from April until October on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. and from April to November on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is located on the historic Fayetteville town square.
Open since 2003, the Fort Smith Farmers Market is located at the corner of North 2nd Street & Garrison Avenue. It stays open year round every Saturday, from 7 a.m. until noon. The market is also open on Tuesdays during those same hours, but only from May until September. Visitors to the market can find both produce and handmade items.

Winter hours run from November to April on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. It is located at 121 Orange Street in Hot Springs.
The Russellville Community Market is an innovative market that connects patrons with farmers through an online ordering system. So it's local farm fresh items with a tech twist. How cool is that?!
