Tour the Highest Point in Louisiana: Mount Driskill

Louisiana doesn’t have a lot of elevation. In fact, there are huge stretches of Louisiana that are in the flood plain—but that doesn’t mean we don’t have any heights. Driskill Mountain, the highest point in Louisiana, reaches 535 ft. and offers amazing views of surrounding hills. It’s really special there.

Driskill Mountain has an elevation of 535 feet, making it the highest natural summit in Louisiana.

The summit consists of nonmarine quartz sands that overlie shallow marine and coastal clays.

The mountain was named after James Christopher Driskill, who moved to Louisiana in 1859.

He had a family of nine children, (eight boys and one girl,) and they purchased 324 acres in Louisiana that included this mount.

The short hike to the top of the mountain is pleasant to all who visit.

And of course, it offers some of the best views of Louisiana that exist out there.
