One of the best parts of writing for Only in Your State is that I get to look at beautiful photos. I’ve discovered that there are some really, really, really good photographers lurking in Illinois. So I’ve rounded up thirteen of the best shots of Illinois I have discovered during my time writing. Enjoy!
1. Love this shot of the inside of a covered bridge in Channahon.
2. Love this shot of lightning over Peoria.
3. Awesome shot of a rainbow over a farm in McLean County.
4. What a great shot of storm clouds forming over Chicago skyscrapers.
5. Can't stop looking at this photograph of a sunset in Springfield.
6. Illinois has some beautiful sunflowers, like the ones captured here in Rockton.
7. This is one of my favorite pictures of Lake Michigan.
8. I'm not usually a big fan of "Bean" pictures, but I love it set against the autumn trees.
9. The only thing that would make this picture look more magical is fairy dust. This sunburst was captured at Burnridge Forest Preserve (Gilberts).
10. Cool shot of a Metra train leaving the Hinsdale train station.
11. What's more patriotic than a bald eagle?
12. Equally patriotic shot of fireworks in Springfield.
13. This artist did a great job of getting this shot of the sky in South Elgin.
As always, please share on our Facebook page any great photos you’ve taken of Illinois! We’d love to see them.
