Montana has 55 state parks, and each one has its own unique character. But while most Montanans flock to our most popular parks, there are still a few hidden gems out there that don’t draw the crowds. If you’re interested in learning more about local history, check out Clark’s Lookout State Park. It’s an interesting (and beautiful) place to spend an afternoon.

Clark's Lookout State Park is located mile north of Dillon, just above the Beaverhead River.

Since it's only an eight-acre park, it's easily overlooked -- but it has a lot to offer.
The park has hiking trails, picnic areas, cultural and heritage information, and some of the best views in the area.

And while there's no camping allowed here, you're welcome to spend the entire day enjoying it.
In 1805, the Lewis and Clark Expedition made its way here (hence the name).
