If you’ve spent enough time in Maine you know that there’s never a shortage of things to do! It’s easy to find them because many are so great, they’re repeatable. Head to the beach, take a hike, enjoy a swimming hole. In the winter and fall, it’s fun to enjoy all the cold-weather activities meant to keep us warm and cozy. Today we’re laying out a few other things you might want to try. These activities are a little unexpected and we think it’s fun to know they exist even if you don’t take part yourself.
1. A Moose Safari with Lone Wolf Guiding Services, Shirley Mills
The only thing more synonymous with Maine than a lighthouse might be a moose! You can spot them throughout the state if you're at the right place at the right time. 2. Canoe at the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center, Scarborough
There are plenty of places to get outside in Maine, but this one just minutes from Portland offers some of the best scenery in the state. The marsh offers a great example of tidal changes (the state has the most dramatic one on the east coast!) and in the summer you can canoe and kayak throughout. 3. Try Rock Climbing with a Guide at Atlantic Climbing School, Bar Harbor

There are tons of beautiful waterways in Maine, but the rivers are some of our favorites. With varying degrees of movement you can enjoy tubing on the calmer ones and thrilling whitewater rafting on the larger ones. 5. Hike the Gulf Hagas Rim Trail, Brownville Junction

6. Take in Moosehead Lake from Above with Currier's Flying Service, Greenville Junction
Moosehead Lake is Maine's largest and it offers lots of fun activities. From swimming to boating to SUPing, this is a major summer destination. Fall and winter also offer scenery like nowhere else. But to truly take in its magnitude you'll want to try a seaplane where you'll get a bird's-eye-view! 7. Visit Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument, Penobscot County
