Rhode Island may be the smallest state, but that doesn’t mean it’s short on fun towns to visit. Pawtucket is often not given more thought than being “just outside of Providence,” but we’re excited to show you why this quirky little town deserves a day trip of its very own.
One of our favorite spots in Pawtucket is the bewitchingly beautiful Slater Memorial Park. With a variety of amenities and events, as well as a carousel that is over 100 years old, you could easily spend your whole day discovering this park, but Pawtucket has so much more to offer!
Sharing a namesake with the park, the Slater Mills Museum can show you how deeply Rhode Island's history is tied into the history of American manufacturing. A historical landmark built right on the banks of the Pawtucket River, the Slater Mill museum even features a waterfall right outside its doors, the perfect place to enjoy a picnic lunch.
And before you go thinking Pawtucket isn't as quirky as we promised, there is some public art here that is sure to give anyone a good giggle. Outside of a denture repair lab lies the statue Happy Dentures, a large humanoid statue of a set of chattering teeth. And if you visit the headquarters for Hasbro (yes THAT Hasbro,) you will be greeted with a giant Mr. Potato Head!
If you want to bring home something fun from your trip, or just spend some time wandering through halls full of ancient treasures, the Rhode Island Antiques Mall can't be missed. The winner of multiple awards for best antique store in the state, there is something here for everyone's budget and taste.
Should you find yourself seeking a little bit of adventure, look no further than Escape Room Rhode Island . With two different experiences and only an hour to escape, you and your loved ones are sure to have a blast solving puzzles and trying to persuade your guide to give you some extra clues.
Pawtucket also has some awesome entertainment options. The Hope Artiste Village is packed with shops and studios, but most importantly houses The Met , a performance venue that has seen many a famous face over the years!
All your adventuring is sure to leave you hungry, so take a trip down to Rasoi for Indian food that is a favorite of locals and travelers alike.
But make sure to leave room for dessert. Wildflour Vegan Bakery makes treats that will knock your socks off, and if you didn't know any better you would swear they weren't vegan.
You can wrap up a long day of fun at one of Pawtucket's many cool breweries. We love Foolproof Brewing Company for cold locally made beers, friendly service, and a great atmosphere to relax in and rehash the day.
It’s truly amazing how much fun Pawtucket packs into a small space! Are you excited to spend the day there and see some of these awesome sights?
