“Colorful” probably isn’t the first word that comes to mind when you think of a military base, but Fort Sam Houston is far from average. This historic place is home to free-roaming peacocks and other wildlife, and you can feed them directly out of the palm of your hand.
Please note: as Fort Sam Houston is an active military base, visitors must obtain a pass prior to entry. Visit the Fort Sam Houston Facebook page to learn more.
