Once upon a time, trains used to run through Missoula’s Old Sawmill District. Back then, the lumber mills were a huge part of Missoula’s economy, causing its growth and expansion. It’s hard to believe it, but this part of the city was once a lumberyard.

Recently, a shiny new restaurant opened that pays homage to Missoula’s past while celebrating all that it has to offer today. If you have yet to experience the Boxcar Bistro, allow us to introduce you.

As you can tell, this is not a traditional boxcar restaurant, although it definitely has a refined dining car feel.

The bistro was named in honor of Missoula's railroad-heavy past.
The Old Sawmill District has traditionally been a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood, with places for people to live, work, and grab a coffee.
