New Jersey has some beautiful waterfalls, but some of them are quite difficult to access (harder, steeper, rockier hikes) or you aren’t able to get too close to the falls themselves. That’s not the case with the waterfall at Van Campens Glen Trail, which is easy to get to and even provides a fun little rock beach to rest at in the warmer months!
Located in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, the Van Campens Glen Trail is an easy hike for all ages.
You only gain about 246 feet of elevation on this out-and-back trail, which is slightly over two miles long.
The best part of the trail is the waterfall at the end, of course!
It's absolutely beautiful.
It might not be the biggest or most powerful waterfall in the state, but it still packs a punch.
The amount of water really just depends on the rainfall and the season.
Like we said, the hike itself is easy. It's through a pretty forest, with plenty to view before you approach the waterfall.
The river really adds to the scenic nature of this hike!
If it's warm weather you'll see plenty of people hanging out at the small, rocky beach.
It's a great way to rest and take photos of the view - just keep in mind you're not supposed to swim or picnic on the beach. Swimming and wading are strictly prohibited and the stream is actually protected by the National Park Service.
It is a rocky beach, though, so just keep that in mind! If the weather isn't quite right, you might want to consider bringing a towel to sit on if you plan on sitting for a moment.
No one likes hiking back in dirty clothes!
Simply put, the Van Campens Glen Trail is the perfect place to hike this summer.
Just make sure to be respectful to your fellow hikers as always!
