Every year in June, Bryce Canyon National Park hosts an Astronomy Festival. The festival was cancelled in 2020, but it’s happening in 2021, and it runs from June 9th – 12th. Check it out:
Bryce Canyon National Park is famous for its amphitheaters full of hoodoos and spires, but it's also an International Dark Sky Park, and a beautiful place to view the night sky. The annual Astronomy Festival is great opportunity to learn more about our vast universe.
The fun starts well before sundown, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9th, with ranger-led programs and art projects. Make a planisphere and create an art project at the tent in the Visitor Center Plaza.
On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, you'll find more family-friendly activities at the Visitor Center Plaza. Make paper constellations, sundials, and solar system hats, and create art projects during the day...
...then enjoy evening programs and constellation tours. These events require advance registration. Head to the Visitor Center Tent each morning at 8 a.m. to sign up before all the slots are filled.
The annual Astronomy Festival is a favorite with park visitors young and old, and festival activities are free with park admission. Make plans now to take everyone in the family to Bryce Canyon National Park!
Learn more about this year’s Astronomy Festival on the Bryce Canyon National Park website. You can see what’s happening at the park today by visiting its Facebook page.
Though you may be up late into the night to see the stars above Bryce Canyon, you’ll still want to wake up nice and early. This beautiful place is hands down the best place to see a Utah sunrise!
