Temperatures around the Centennial State continue to rise, and Coloradans everywhere are looking for creative ways to cool off. While one can always turn on the sprinkler and make a run for it, we happen to think that we have discovered something even better, which is this short and sweet hike to a refreshing Colorado swimming hole:
Located near the small town of Florrisant, Paradise Cove is a stunning all-natural swimming hole that features deep depths, rugged cliffs, and a delicate waterfall that feeds the tranquil pool.
Also known as Guffey Cove, the swimming hole can be accessed via the 1-mile, moderately difficult Paradise Cove Swimming Hole Trail, which comes complete with colorful wildflowers, rocky cliffs, and mature trees.
While there is no permit needed to visit the area, there is a $6 per vehicle per day fee from May 15th through September 30th. Visitors can pay this fee on-site.
Paradise/Guffey Cove can be accessed by traveling west on US Hwy 24 from Colorado Springs for 25 miles. Turn left on CR 42/Twin Rocks Rd and drive 6 miles, and then turn left onto Teller CR 1 for another 6 miles. Turn right onto CR 11 for 4 miles and make another right onto Teller CR 112 for another 3 miles. Paradise Cove will be on the right side.
