It’s one of those things that make us Michiganders laugh out loud, when people from elsewhere dare to try to pronounce the names of many of our cities. Most of us know that it’s our French or Native American roots that influence the names of many of the places in Michigan. That’s lost on most outsiders, so it makes their trying to pronounce them all the more hilarious. Ever hear someone say Mackinac, or Hamtramck? Then you know what we’re talking about.
