Over in a valley 18 miles west of Murphy, North Carolina, is a forgotten gem begun some 80 years ago in 1941. It’s now a theme park dedicated to Christianity. The site was first called Fields of the Wood by a Quaker bible salesman named A.J. Tomlinson, who would later become the first overseer of the Church of God. Before his death in 1943, Tomlinson inscribed in rock on the hillside here the ten commandments.

And they're still here. Today, the site is owned and operated by the Church of God of Prophecy. Admission is free.

You'll pass the bigger-than-life, five feet tall letters spelling out the ten commandments laid out on the side of the mountain as you ascend to what may possibly be the world's biggest bible.
