In many ways, visiting the town of Wallace in North Idaho feels like entering a different time. Boasting historic buildings in every direction and plenty of nods to the town’s past, it’s almost like nothing has changed in this old mining town. One thing that has changed is the fact that there are no longer operating bordellos in the town – for obvious reasons – although they were common in Wallace during the 19th century. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of reminders of these former bordellos and “the ladies of the night” who worked at them. Lux Rooms is a boutique hotel housed in a former bordello and it’s one of the most unique places you’ll stay in Wallace.
Completely immerse yourself in Wallace history when you spend the night at Lux Rooms. Housed inside of the former Lux Bordello, this hotel will definitely give you something to talk about.
The two-story brick building that Lux Rooms calls home has been completely renovated and converted into a boutique hotel. You'd never guess that the building operated openly as a bordello for nearly a century before closing in the late 1980s...
...except for the fact that the hotel is dedicated to honoring the women who worked here throughout the bordello's lifetime. By documenting their contribution to the town's past, Lux Rooms keeps the memory of these women alive.
At Lux Rooms, you'll have seven bedrooms to choose from, each of which is named after a former lady of the bordello. Ginger's Room consists of two full-sized beds, whereas Cha Cha's and Frenchie's rooms boast full beds with shared baths.
Hotel guests also have access to Block 23 Lounge where you can dine, read, relax, and plan for your next adventure. A shared kitchen space with a fridge, toaster, coffee machine, and snacks is also available to guests.
Keep in mind that due to the themed nature of the hotel, there is adult content (including artwork and reading materials) in the hotel. Consider keeping the kids at home and plan a romantic getaway at Lux Rooms with your loved one instead!
One thing's for sure, you'll never forget your time at Lux Rooms, a former bordello in beautiful Wallace, Idaho. Check out the hotel's Facebook page for more information on this unique and historic stay.
