There’s nothing wrong with camping in the woods, or camping in a field. But imagine if you could find a campsite that was more than a picnic table and a campfire ring, a place that made you feel like you had entered into a different world, a place that was simply magical.
PepperHarrow Flower Farm is that sort of place. The farm is in Winterset and it’s a working farm, with fields bursting with lavender and sunflowers and a sky filled with stars. You can camp here, in the middle of it all. Does it sound a little like heaven?
It is. Read on.
You'll find the farm in Madison County, on bluffs that overlook the Middle River Valley. It grows flowers for cut bouquets.
The tent is a spacious 16'x20' and is furnished like a well-appointed bedroom. You'll find plank wood floors, a king-sized bed, nightstands, a dresser and bedside lamps. Both ends of the tent can be tied open to allow summer breezes to pass through.
The bathroom is a 3-4 minute walk from the tent, in an event barn at the site. A rustic outdoor shower with hot water is available. You won't mind having a short walk to the bathroom in a place like this.
While the tent makes a good base to explore the famous covered bridges of Madison County, you may have a hard time pulling yourself away from this beautiful scene.
The farm makes lavender products, so you may wish to purchase something to remember your amazing stay. Glamping is getting bigger than ever in Iowa. If you’re interested in other unusual glamping getaways, check out this amazing floating cottage and these grain bin cabins.
