Hocking Hills Winery was founded in 2013. The Davidson family originally raised cattle but decided to convert the property into a family winery. The winery produces 12 tons of grapes annually over four acres.
They may be known for their award-winning wine, but they also offer beer, non-alcoholic drinks, and charcuterie trays. Their wine slushies are delicious on a summer day. You can even bring in your own food or order from a local restaurant.
Hocking Hills Winery is open for visits every day but Tuesday. You can check out their hours and get more information about their wines on their website. website.
After filling up on tasty wines, you'll be ready for some activity. Head on down to Old Man's Cave for some of the most incredible sights in Ohio. The hike to reach the cave takes under an hour and you'll see some astonishingly beautiful scenery.
The "old man" the cave is named for is Richard Rowe, a local recluse who lived in the cave in the late 1700s with his two dogs. Supposedly, Rowe is buried in the cave, though no one knows the exact location of his remains.
One famous area of Old Man's Cave is Devil's Bathtub, a streambed that contains a tiered waterfall that has worn a basin within the sandstone. The swirling waters constantly erode more of the rock away, so the basin enlarges each year.
The cave itself is relatively small, but the gorge surrounding it is large and extremely impressive. The magnificent scenery is sure to take your breath away and is stunning no matter the season.
