There are many ways to explore Minnesota’s North Shore, from a trek along the Superior Hiking Trail to a drive up Highway 61 to a visit to the beach. But perhaps the most popular way to explore the region is by visiting the North Shore’s many state parks. Gooseberry Falls is the most popular, with its many trails that take visitors not only to the famous waterfall, but to scenic spots along Lake Superior. This popular park is well worth visiting, but today we’d like to take you into a lesser-known park. George Crosby Manitou State Park is a hidden gem along the North Shore, and it’s home to a beautiful trail – the Humpback Trail – that will take you to some truly spectacular sights.
