This Flower Reserve In New York Will Be In Full Bloom Soon And It’s An Extraordinary Sight To See

As the grey skies fade away and spring begins to bring new life to upstate New York, it’s a great time to check out some of the many hidden natural areas throughout the state that stun visitors with their scenic beauty. One of those destinations is Sycamore Hill Gardens, a gorgeous series of gardens in Marcellus, New York, on the northeast side of the Finger Lakes region.

These beautiful gardens outside Syracuse, New York, contain nearly 40 acres of diverse plant life, along with koi ponds, stonework, and a hedge maze.

What was originally a dairy farm is now one of the most picturesque gardens in the region, with a variety of trees and flowers.

Head upstate and take a garden tour to see some of these gorgeous gardens for yourself. As soon as you get a look at the stunning color across the grounds, you'll be glad you made the trip.

The gardens are on the property of the home of George and Karen Hanford, who designed the garden and have lived in the area for around 50 years.

The Hanfords first settled down in the area in 1971 after moving from Texas. After spending years cultivating a farm, they began creating the gardens in the 1990s and have been growing it ever since.

They have also planted what used to be farmland with 10,000 native trees and 10,000 native shrubs.

Wander through this beautifully groomed hedge maze at Sycamore Hill, just one of the great adventures in this gorgeous landscape!

The gardens are also occasionally opened up as a fundraising venue for local nonprofits like the Baltimore Woods Nature Center and Central New York Land Trust.
