We all know Indiana is by far the best state in the country, but now we have some facts to prove it. Indiana is number one at a lot of things, but based on some recent polls and statistics, we have a few key facts to help you brag about the Hoosier state.
1. Steel Production
Indiana produces many things for the rest of the country, including corn and other crops, but it's actually steel that Indiana produces more of than any other state. According to the NWI Times, Indiana has been the leading steel producer in the country for the past three decades. You're welcome, America.
2. Community Service
Hoosiers love getting involved and helping others, so it's no surprise that a 2013 survey found Indiana State University to be number one in community service. As a representation of the state, we're pretty proud of that one!
3. Having Fun
Indiana University was rated the number one party school in the country. Since Indiana University is a pretty prestigious college, we're taking that as a compliment. Hoosiers know how to work hard and play hard.
4. Duck Production
Did you know that Indiana was number one in the country for duck production? While we may not be well known for this, it's true. The largest number of ducks in the country come from the Hoosier state.
5. Manufacturing
Indiana has a large number of factories and plant throughout the state. According to a 2013 survey done by the Indiana Manufacturers Association, Indiana is number one in the country in overall manufacturing services.
6. Best Place to Live
In 2012, Carmel was rated the number one city to live in within the entire United States! While the ratings have since fluctuated a bit, Carmel is still among the top cities in the country. Of course, Indiana will always be number one to us.
We always knew Indiana was number one and now we have some proof! What other ways do you think Indiana is the best state to live in?
