The gardens are located near the Toledo Bend Reservoir in Sabine Parish, Hodges Gardens can be found on U.S. Highway 171, 15 miles south of Many, LA, between Florien and Hornbeck.
The park opened for the public in 1956 and was transferred to a non-profit foundation in 1960. In 2007, it became part of the Louisiana public parks system.
The park offers an amazing array of natural and imported flora and fauna.
The renowned naturalist, botanist, and conservationist Caroline Dormon was brought in to develop the gardens and is credited with the beauty you can see today.
There are also plentiful recreation opportunities around the lake, including kayak and canoe rentals, a fishing pier, a lookout tower, a lodge for large groups, and of course the gorgeous and unique water features.
